Final Fantasy XIII Coming to PS3?
New speculation has the next game in the series coming only to Sony's system.
Final Fantasy XII isn't due out in North America until late in the year (and who knows when it'll arrive in Europe) but rumours of the sequel are already spreading. And if the whispers are to be believed, Final Fantasy XIII is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 3.
The rumours come by way of US magazine EGM, which in its May issue (suggesting it's not just an April Fool's gag) says that not only has Square Enix already started work on Final Fantasy XIII for the PlayStation 3, but that development has already come a long way.
A teaser video is said to be in production for showing at the game's official announcement at E3 in May.
This prattle would be easy to dismiss if it weren't for the successive delays that Final Fantasy XII went through. The two years the game was delayed were, however, put to good use; it recently scored top marks in Japan's top games magazine, Famitsu, and went on to sell around 2 million copies in only a couple weeks.
The single-platform strategy is also in keeping with Square Enix's monogamous past. The company has never released one of the main series Final Fantasy games on more than one console at once.
