WWE Bodyslams PS3, Xbox 360
Men in tights turn their malevolent sights on both next-gen heavyweights.
Wrestlemania 22 may be in the bag, but wrestling fans still have plenty to keep them busy. Not only has THQ's flagship WWE: SmackDown! vs Raw gone portable on the PSP, but the company has now announced that the popular series is coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The next-gen debut of the series, in WWE: SmackDown! vs Raw 2007 brings all the stuff you loved about the previous entries and spruces the package up with crisp high-definition graphics that show bulging veins and beads of sweat and a new analog grappling mechanism to make the action smoother.
This newest version also includes more out-the-ring action, letting you take your fight right up to the fans in what the publisher calls "interactive fighting areas". These allow you to batter your opponent into, for example, speakers or grab items from the crowd to inflict pain.
Other new stuff in this year's update include a new approach to the soap opera storylines that run through the game and a more detailed General Manager mode that lets you fine-tune all aspects of the presentation to boost those all-important viewer stats. In keeping with its next-gen status, WWE: SmackDown! Vs Raw 2007 also comes with new online modes.
Don't worry if you haven't made the jump yet; WWE: SmackDown! Vs Raw 2007 will still be out for current consoles. The game will be out for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and PSP starting this fall.
