Nibris Bring Sadness to Revolution
Polish developer working on a black-and-white games for Nintendo's new system. First info and concept art.
Think the Revolution is going to be all about kid-friendly fare? Think again. Polish developer Nibris has announced it's working on a game for the new system that it is says is "only for adult players with strong nerves".
The first thing you'll notice about Sadness is its complete lack of colour, which is part of Nibris's plans of bringing to life a gothic horror tale. While the black-and-white game will be big on shocks and feature an intricate storyline to match, don't expect the gorefest found in so many other games in the increasingly crowded genre.
Sadness will make full use of the Revolution's motion sensing controller, letting you, for example, chase away rats with a torch, climbing walls by throwing a rope over or slitting the throat of an enemy with a sliver of glass.
The decision to create the game for the Revolution stems from the developer's respect for Nintendo goal of bringing innovation back to gameplay.
"Video games have reached a wall they will not break - an audio-visual wall," says Nibris's Piotr Orlovsky told Kikizo. "In an age of commercial hits with the number two in the title, a larger number of players are reluctant to play the same titles, enriched with only a larger number of military training grounds and textures."
"Nintendo, the synonym of video games and entertainment, decided to conquer this barrier. The company has decided to create new systems, which through their solutions direct games to completely different paths. The many ideas that we apply wouldn't have a chance on other systems other than DS and Revolution."
See if he's right when Sadness comes to Revolution sometime in 2007.
