Guitar Hero Back on the Road
Don't put that axe down just yet. RedOctane and Harmonix are back with a few dozen more tunes and other new stuff too.
All true rockers know that the music never dies, so it's apt that publisher RedOctane is hitting the road again later this year with the first sequel to popular guitar-'em-up rhythm game Guitar Hero.
The makers of Guitar Hero II are being skimpy with details right now - that's what the company's E3 showing is for - but we do know that the game will add more of what you liked and some new stuff too.
Predictably, there are more tunes and more venues for you to spread the good word of rock, but now you'll be able to take a step back from the spotlight if you prefer by using the guitar peripheral as a bass or rhythm guitar instead of a lead. You and a friend will even be able to play together using different guitars and tracks.
"Despite the fact there are many months until release, we're already implementing exciting features and innovations," said RedOctane's Kelly Sumner. "This fall we're going to rock everyone's world all over again."
The game is again in the capable hands of Frequency and Amplitude developer Harmonix, which is building up a 55-strong track list of rock, metal and alternative songs.
Guitar Hero II will be out only on PlayStation 2 this November in the US. No European release has been confirmed but it's a fair bet that one will be announced at some point.
