Activision Rolling Out Call of Duty Maps
Publisher joins the pay-for-play fray with new maps available from next week.
Call of Duty 2 has been one of the most popular games on the Xbox 360, thanks in part to multiplayer over Xbox Live. To reward those gamers still plugging away, Activision will soon start rolling out nine new Call of Duty 2 maps on Microsoft's service.
Half of the first batch of four maps will be free, but you'll need to hand over 400 Microsoft points for the other two. The free Bonus Map Pack includes Vossenack and Wallendar in Germany while the paid-for Skirmish Map Pack adds Kalach, Russia and Beaumont-Hague, France.
This initial batch will debut next week during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
Activision is planning five more maps for later this summer. In July, the company will release the Invasion Pack, which will sell for 900 Microsoft Points. Maps include: Antoville, France (Crossroads), St. Louet, France (Newvillers), Amaye sur Seulles, France (Normandy), Alam Halfa, Egypt (Decoytown) and Rostov, Russia (Harbor).
There's no word yet on whether Activision will go the way Microsoft did with the recent Halo 2 maps and release a standalone disc containing all the maps at some point.
