Sony's Delivers Current-Gen E3 Line-Up
While the PS3 goodies are under wraps until Monday, Sony is flaunting the current-gen stuff it's bringing to E3.
While Sony's PlayStation 3 games for next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo remain vaulted so that the company can maximise the wow factor at its pre-show briefing on Monday, it is letting on what we can expect for its current systems.
The looming release of Sony's high-powered beast means it's no surprise that the PlayStation 2 is getting the shorter end of the stick, but Sony still has a few games worth looking out for. The biggest reason to hold on to your PlayStation 2 could well be God of War II, but RPG fans can also look forward to the latest epic from the people behind Dark Cloud and Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King.
Over on the PSP, the line-up is dominated by portable conversions of franchises already well established on the PlayStation 2. The biggest exception to this, and possibly one of the best looking games for the portable from any company, is LocoRoco, an adorable action game that tasks you with guiding a blob through intricate levels.
Fans of more mature fare will probably be more interested in Gangs of London, a new crime-based game from the Getaway school of game design.
Following is a list of games Sony has confirmed will be at E3:
- ATV Offroad Fury 4 (PS2) - quad bike racing with panache
- Gangs of London (PSP) - thug-heavy action from Getaway creators
- God of War II (PS2) - Kratos returns, looking to change his destiny
- Killzone: Liberation (PSP) - portable continuation of PS2 shooter
- Lemmings (PSP) - guide the suicidal creatures to freedom - again
- LocoRoco (PSP) - navigate obstacles with your orange blob character
- NBA '07 (PS2) - live the life of a basketball star
- NBA '07 (PSP) - Sony-styled b-ball on the go
- Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (PSP) - popular pair made portable debut
- Rogue Galaxy (PS2) - Japanese-style RPG from Dragon Quest VIII creators
- SOCOM: US Navy SEALs: Combined Assault (PS2) - now with 4-person play
- SOCOM: US Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 2 (PSP) - portable military hijinks
- World Tour Soccer '06 (PSP) - footie on the move
