Nintendo Reveals Mario, Zelda for Wii
Well, maybe the Zelda game isn't wholly new, but the Mario game sure is. First images.
Nintendo is home to a lot of popular franchises but none bigger than Mario and Legend of Zelda, and the company has used its press briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to unveil games in both franchises coming to its new Wii console.
The Wii Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game is not so much new as it is a rejigged version of the game coming to GameCube. Nintendo has added new gameplay built around the Wii controller, which is used to shoot Link's bow, throw his boomerang, fight enemies and even catch fish.
The game was originally planned for release on GameCube last year but it'll now hit in two versions, one specific for each of the GameCube and the Wii.
The Mario game, on the other hand, is a brand new game called Super Mario Galaxy. The game is visually reminiscent of Super Mario Sunshine although better looking and with a different setting. The game is, naturally, built around the Wii controller, which will let you attack bosses, stomp enemies and even fly through space.
Nintendo also used its conference to show off some other games it has coming, including a new Wario Ware game and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Samus's latest adventure.
