Indy Brings Euphoria to Next Gen
Tired of waiting for Harrison Ford to don the fedora again? Why not control his destiny yourself? First screens.
Fans of Indiana Jones tired of waiting for the whip-thwipper's latest big-screen adventure can at least take solace in his latest video game, which is underway at LucasArts under the direction of the bearded one, George Lucas, himself.
Tentatively titled Indiana Jones 2007, the game is an all-new adventure set at the footsteps of World War II. Indy is once again on the trail of a famous artefact, a hunt that will take him from San Francisco's China Town to spots around the world.
Key to bringing Indy's new game to life is something technology developer NaturalMotion calls euphoria. This is an advanced AI and world-awareness set of technology that has the end result of making character aware of the world around them and gives them the smarts to react to whatever happens to them. The company promises that with euphoria you'll never see the same thing happen twice.
LucasArts has also stumbled upon another technology called Digital Molecular Matter, which allows you to interact - read: break - the world in many different ways.
Indiana Jones 2007 is coming for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Those not yet ready for the transition will also be able to control Indy in another version developed outside of LucasArts that is coming for PlayStation 2, DS and PSP.
