Game Creators Frustrated by Sony
Sony has been sending out a lot of development kits, but not everyone's got one yet.
In the same week that THQ and Sega were praised for being quick to jump on the Wii wagon, those same publishers are expressing frustration at Sony's tardiness in giving them final specifications for the PlayStation 3.
Sony said at its pre-E3 briefing that it has started sending development kits to game creators, so that they can tune their games for final hardware. But Sega's Simon Jeffrey told news service Bloomberg that many were still waiting.
"A lot of developers have not gotten the kits," Jeffrey said, as reported by Next Generation. "There certainly will not be a lot of titles available" at the PlayStation 3's launch in November.
THQ boss Brian Farrell reportedly said that his company had killed work on The Sopranos for the PlayStation 3 because it was too risky at the moment.
It's not all gloomy, though. Both Activision and EA, the biggest game publisher around, said that they were satisfied with what they've got from Sony so far.
Sony is planning to launch the PlayStation 3 worldwide in November, and says it's planning to have around 15 games ready to go on day one.
