June Release for DS Lite in Europe
Not long to go now, and there's a new colour coming too.
Those of you who have grown tired of lugging around the massive DS can rest easy in the knowledge that respite is not far off. Nintendo has confirmed that its redesigned DS Lite will be hitting Europe next month.
While the Americans have to settle for just the vanilla, white offering, Nintendo is planning two colours for Europe - white and black. Both will be released across the region on 23 June, and in the UK they will sell for £100.
Fear not if you're in love with the bulkier model. Nintendo says that the DS Lite will be positioned as a "premium alternative" to that grey beast.
Two-thirds the size of the current model, about a fifth lighter and infinitely cooler, the DS Lite has been a massive hit in its home country of Japan. Sales have been on a tear since the system launched there earlier in the year.
And it's not hard to see why. In addition to the sleeker housing, the DS Lite comes with much brighter screens - with four brightness levels - and a bigger stylus.
