Kingdom Hearts II Gets a Date With Europe
Square Enix and Disney collide fantastically - again. Frustrating months ahead for European fans.
Disney is popular. Final Fantasy is popular. Is it any wonder then that Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts series, which melds the two, has been a hit across the world?
Following up on the PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance entries, the series is returning to the PlayStation 2 later this year for its biggest adventure yet in Kingdom Hearts II.
As in the last game, Kingdom Hearts II works because of the worlds it mixes, and this time there's a lot more in the blend. Square Enix fans will find characters new and old and a revamped battle system that promises to reduce some of the frustration of the last console game.
Where Disney's involvement was limited to its animated features last time, in the new game you'll find your favourite characters from the company's popular live action flicks, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron and Nightmare Before Christmas.
Kingdom Hearts II has already made waves in both Japan and North America, but Europeans are going to have to wait until this autumn to see what the fuss is about.
