Hitman Whacks Footballers on UK Chart
Proof positive that when bullet and ball meet, it's the bullet that comes out on top.
If Agent 47 weren't the hard man we all know him to be, he'd probably be wearing a satisfied smug look on his face this week. With lethal precision, his new game, Hitman: Blood Money, has vaulted to the top of the UK charts, wiping out the pretenders on its way.
Among the fallen are the many football games that have risen through the ranks in preparation for this year's World Cup, which is now just days away. The first loser this week is EA's official tie-in, knocked from its perch for the first time in a month. It's surely only a matter of time before the frenzy pushes it back to the front again.
Football's not the only sport in the Top 10, though Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis is hardly what you would consider a typical sports game. The company known more for its controversial Grand Theft Auto series nabbed fourth place for the week, keeping a lower-priced Lara Croft at bay.
Debuts were few this week and included Mario's gal, Princess Peach, whose new DS game, aptly called Super Princess Peach, came in at No. 29, a few places ahead of Microsoft's latest PC strategy game Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 27 May, as determined by Chart Track:
- Hitman: Blood Money (Eidos)
- FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (Konami)
- Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (Rockstar)
- Tomb Raider: Legend (Eidos)
- X-Men: The Official Game (Activision)
- Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo)
- The Da Vinci Code (2K Games)
- Championship Manager 2006 (Eidos)
- The Sims 2 (EA)
