Wii Dated - Sort Of
Nintendo doesn't want to say when it's coming, but there seem to be loose lips within the company.
Nintendo was tantalising in its showcase of the Wii at last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo. It showed a new Mario game, more of the delicious-looking Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and many others too. It did, unfortunately, stop short of giving us a price and a date.
The company may not want to talk about release details for its new console, but someone is. The Wii will be yours to buy on 6 November, if the Nintendo sources who spoke to UK site Cubed3 are to be believed.
Nintendo has picked November for hardware launches several times in the past, and it's already said that the Wii will be out this autumn. So the date, or somewhere around there, makes sense.
The threat of the £400+ PlayStation 3, which launches in early November around the world, is less so if you consider recent comments that the console will not sell for more than $250 (£135) in the US or ¥25,000 (£120) in Japan, making £150 a reasonable price for the UK.
