Hitman Strikes His Mark Again
A second week on top of the UK sales chart for Agent 47's new adventure.
Things are looking up for UK game maker Eidos which has a couple of titles bracketing EA's official World Cup game at the top of the UK sales chart this week. That glabrous assassin, Agent 47, is still wreaking all sorts of chaos on in his new game, Hitman: Blood Money, while Lara Croft's new adventure seems to have reclaimed some of the glory that went so sorely missing in the series.
There's more rampant destruction, this time on the PC, in the Top 10 courtesy of this week's lone top-tier new entry, Half-Life 2: Episode One. The game, the first of three new instalments in the familiar Half-Life 2 universe, sees geeky hero Gordon Freeman back in his alien-butt-kicking role.
One game that has managed to ride a crest of word-of-mouth appeal is Animal Crossing: Wild World. In an age where new games are played and thrown away in a matter of weeks, if not days, Nintendo's broadly appealing game has stuck it out in the Top 10 since its launch earlier in the year. Things are looking up for Mario's erstwhile girlfriend, Princess Peach. Her new DS game, Super Princess Peach, has jumped into the Top 20 after a lacklustre start the week before.
The other big release this week was Tourist Trophy for the PlayStation 2. >Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital may be capable of no wrong in cars, but it seems that the same bite isn't there for the company's first bike game. The game debuted at No. 14.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 27 May, as determined by Chart Track:
- Hitman: Blood Money (Eidos)
- FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 (EA)
- Tomb Raider: Legend (Eidos)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (Konami)
- X-Men: The Official Game (Activision)
- Animal Crossing: Wild World (Nintendo)
- The Sims 2 (EA)
- Half-Life 2: Episode One (EA)
- Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (Rockstar)
- Championship Manager 2006 (Eidos)
