Xbox Live's Summer of Fun
New content for PGR3, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero and new arcade games means we won't have to suffer Sol's merciless attack.
The world of video games is usually lulled into a heat-induced daze over the summer months. As Europeans jet off to ever-more distant locations, publishers hold back on releasing new games, saving those instead for the year-end madness that is the Christmas rush. But this summer Xbox Live could bring some reprieve.
Microsoft is planning to roll out some big content on its online service over the next few months, suggests a leaked magazine article scan snagged by game site Club Skill. The purloined document reveals all manner of interesting stuff, including the long-awaited release of Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting.
Things heat up later in the summer for Xbox Live Arcade with the release of five new games: Cloning Clyde, Frogger, Lumines Live, Roboblitz and Pac-Man.
Other goodies detailed in the scan include: more new maps for Perfect Dark Zero; new cars and game modes for Project Gotham Racing 3; more maps and a new co-operative scenario for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter; a hardcore mode for Kameo: Elements of Power; and five new maps for top online Xbox 360 game Call of Duty 2.
