Rockstar Assembles GTA IV Crew
We don't know much, but we know that it will be made by some of the same people.
A big part of the success of the Grand Theft Auto games has been down to the impressive casts that bring the villains and heroes to life and the quality of the writing that gives them something to say. For Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is dipping back into its pool of talent, hinting at things to come.
Key to bringing past Grand Theft Auto worlds to life is the excellent script work, which not only delivers an entertaining story but also uses caustic satire to raise a variety of social issues. The good news for the next game is that Dan Houser and James Worrall are reportedly the lead writers on the project, according to a CVG article based on an update at the Internet Movie Database.
In addition to his main job of running Rockstar, Houser was also one of the main people behind the other games in the series, while Worral was formed part of the creative team behind Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and controversy-lightning rod Manhunt.
Other people associated with the game in these early stages include Lazlow Jones, the well-known American DJ who wrote for previous games in the series and voiced one of the in-game DJs too, and another series regular, Navid Khonsari.
Rockstar has been typically secretive about the first next-gen Grand Theft Auto game. Microsoft made a big deal about the game at its recent Electronic Entertainment Expo briefing last month, but the game is also coming to the PlayStation 3. Both versions are expected next year.
