Blizzard's Rumoured Online Storm
Could a massively multiplayer StarCraft game be far off? Some would say yes.
World of Warcraft has been a massive success for the game's developer, Blizzard, and its publisher, Vivendi, and this has led many to ask when the company would start thinking along similar lines for its other franchises. Recent talk suggests things are already moving in that direction.
Vivendi has reportedly been talking to people on Wall Street about taking all of its franchises online, according to a posting at games blog F13.net.
According to the report, Vivendi has been working on a game production model that would let them it a game online within three years. (World of Warcraft reportedly took 4.5 years to finish.)
And now that Warcraft has been whisked online - and so successfully - the talk is naturally that Blizzard and Vivendi will look to do the same with their other massive series, StarCraft.
Unfortunately, all we have right now is empty talk as Vivendi has refused to comment on the rumours.
