Voting Opens for Golden Joysticks
Make your voice heard by voting for your favourites. And please, please don't vote for 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
Many an argument has started with friends bickering over which of the games released over the last years were the best. Was it Resident Evil 4 with its gore-dripping story and spot-on gameplay, or was it the norm-smashing antics of the puppies in Nintendogs? Now you can put that passion and energy to good use by casting your vote at this year's Golden Joystick Awards.
The Golden Joysticks started way back in 1982, making them one of the oldest award ceremonies in games. Voting is now open in 17 categories at the Golden Joystick site, where you can vote for everything from the best game of the year to the most promising game in the year ahead.
Last year's event drew more than 200,000 votes with the Ultimate Game of the Year nod going to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The organisers are hoping that with your help they'll smash the 250,000 mark this year.
The awards will be handed out at a no-doubt lavish event at the Park Lane Hilton hotel in London on 27 October. ITV will also broadcast the awards on 24 November in a night of games hosted by former MTV presenter Emma Griffiths.
