Lara Dug Up for 10th Anniversary
Ms Croft's original adventure is getting another go around. What we want to know is if we can expect that chest to return as well.
Do you remember 1996? It was a time when the PlayStation was just getting underway in the West, helped along by a certain large-chested, posh British woman. Eidos is going to help you relive that bit of the past with a 10th anniversary remake of the original Tomb Raider for consoles and the PSP.
Eidos sent out a quick press release late on Friday to announce the game. Buzz on the Net was that the game was no more after original Tomb Raider studio Core Designs reportedly said that they were not making it. And they're not.
The game, which doesn't have a name yet, is being developed by Crystal Dynamics - the same team that recently rejuvenated the franchise in Tomb Raider: Legend.
"Our '10th Anniversary Edition' of Tomb Raider, is a one-off title to celebrate both Lara and Tomb Raider," says Eidos's Larry Sparks. "It will appeal not only to the loyal fans of the Tomb Raider series but will also attract a totally new audience."
About all we're sure of right now is that the game is coming for PlayStation 2, PSP and PC, and since it's being done to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the series, it should be out later this year.
