Death and Festivities Come to WoW
A seasonal event and new content from the latest patch. Could this be WoW heaven?
If you're in the northern hemisphere, it's the longest day of the year for you today, and to celebrate the occasion, Blizzard is throwing a massive party for the residents of World of Warcraft. The Midsummer Fire Festival, as it's known in the game world of Azeroth, gets underway on Wednesday and it lasts until 5 July.
So what can you expect during this period? Mostly a lot of fun stuff, going by what Blizzard has said, including dancing around ribbon poles and magical bonfires that heal your characters. Those of you looking for something more to do will also find quest givers in the major cities that punctuate the landscape.
And if you're looking for a bit of "Ooh" and "Aah", keep an eye out for the fireworks display that's set for the end of the festival.
There's a full rundown of the goodies you can expect over the next few weeks at the official game site.
Blizzard has also released a new patch called Shadow of The Necropolis. Along with the usual tightening comes a new 40-man raid dungeon set in a floating necropolis. The full patch notes are available at the official World of Warcraft patch notes page.
