Need for Speed Heads to the Canyon
EA's racer skips the city and heads out into the sticks.
It seems to be a trend for driving series to start off in cities and then flirt with the idea of racing in more outdoorsy environments in later editions. Such is the fate that has befallen the Need for Speed series, which for its next game, coming to all platforms later this year, will give gamers a taste of mountain roads.
While Need for Speed: Carbon will still have the city-inspired levels that have brought the series so far, its outstanding addition is Canyon Racing. The story starts with you vying for territory in city centres before the cops drive you out into the wild. Here you'll careen through crazy curves as the race continues in the Carbon Canyon.
"We pride ourselves on our ability to reinvent the franchise and continually uncover new and exciting trends in car culture," says EA's Larry LaPierre, executive producer of the game. "Canyon Racing is a real test of a driver's skill and we think it provides a fantastic game play opportunity to lean into."
Need for Speed: Carbon is coming to PC, mobile phones and all consoles - and we mean all of them - this November. You can find out more about the series at EA's site.
