Portugal Takes Home Virtual World Cup
Peter Moore is on hand to reward the Portugese team for once again sticking it to everyone.
Not content with kicking England out of the World Cup proper, Portugal has added insult to thrashing by taking home the virtual equivalent of the cup too.
The Portuguese duo of Miguel Angelo Dinis and Antonio Luis Ferreira Gomes went up against Mexico in the final of the EA-sponsored event, which played out in front of 8,500 people in Berlin on Saturday.
The event was the culmination of a months-long process where the best players of EA's official event tie-in game, FIFA World Cup Germany 2006, competed for spots in the final alongside the actual World Cup in Germany.
Microsoft vice president Peter Moore flew out for the event - and to catch a few of the deciding games in the World Cup too, no doubt - and handed Dinis and Gomes their prize.
"Seeing the matches being played out on the Xbox 360 has been nearly as good as watching a real football match!" said Moore - an Englishman.
At least this time he didn't have to see his own team lose to Portugal.
