Jaffe Talks Up God of War 3
And things are looking pretty decent for the second game too, says the developer.
Many developers see their grand series plans fall apart when one of the games along the way fails, sending the rest crashing into oblivion. Not so for David Jaffe and the successful God of War series he gave life to. In a recent blog post, Jaffe talks about God of War 2 (which is being directed by relative newcomer Cory Barlog) and about the chances of the series continuing after that game hits the PlayStation 2 look good.
"I can tell you that God of War 2 is shaping up very, very nicely," Jaffe writes in his blog. "I played a bunch of levels last week and it's really, really fun. The art and music is much better than the first game and there is some damn fine level design going on in the new game."
"As Cory and I have said to the press, this is the second act of a bigger story. And when you are making a game, you never really know if the game will turn out good enough to merit another one in the series. But after last week, I can say I am very confident of our chances to be able to complete the God of War trilogy. You never know, but that's me just putting it out there."
The news is sure to push up the stock of the PlayStation 3, which many people feel is missing a true must-have game at the moment. A third God of War game would almost certainly be on Sony's new beast, considering it's already surprising that God of War 2 is still coming to the PlayStation 2.
