Driver Parks in Ubisoft's Garage
Which leaves Atari to clean up the skid marks while Yves figures out what to do with the series.
Atari's Driver series has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the last few years, as fans of the series turned to the seedier world of Grand Theft Auto. Now the company has decided to cuts its losses and it's selling the series and the development studio responsible for it.
The main players in the story are, naturally, both claiming a win in the matter. Atari says that it will choose to focus its driving game resources on Test Drive series, while Ubisoft sees this as a good chance to get into the driving game racket.
The Driver series was one of the first to combine driving, action and story. It bolted off on the PlayStation but since the first sequel things have been going downhill for it, culminating in the critically panned Driv3r. Things have been put back on track somewhat since then with Driver: Parallel Lines.
