Sony Named Top Brand Again
PlayStation maker tops a list filled with tech and car companies.
Sony has taken something of a beating over the past two months, since the underwhelming debut of the PlayStation 3 in May. But that doesn't seem to have hurt the company as much as some might think.
For the seventh time in a row (and the ninth time in 12 years), Sony has been named the top brand in America. Harris Interactive asked 2,351 Americans in an online survey to name their three favourite brands without prompting.
Sony beat out Dell (No. 2) and Coca-Cola (3), and left its video game space combatants in the dust. Neither Microsoft nor Nintendo made it into the top 10. Rather, it was car (Toyota, Ford, Honda), computer and electronics (Sony, Dell, Hewlett Packard, Apple) makers that dominated the list.
