Colin McRae Flings DIRT at PS3, 360
First HD screens for the rally man's latest game.
Former rally star Colin McRae's fortunes may be flagging in the real world, and for a while his game series wasn't faring much better, but Codemasters is determined to change all that with the first next-gen instalment in the 8-million-selling series, coming sometime next year.
Purists scoffed when the developers took the traditional, narcissistic rally gameplay and added more cars for you to race against directly. In Colin McRae: DIRT, that's still there, but there's a whole lot more for rally fans to enjoy.
In addition to the multi-mile motoring marathon that is the Pike's Peak International, the game also includes open-desert racing of the sort popularized by the Paris-Dakar event.
Codemasters has wrangled the power of the next-generation to ensure that the game handles as realistically as possible, and that includes making the damage modelling even more accurate. The developers are promising more modes will be unveiled later, too.
Colin McRae: DIRT will be out for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2007. Check out the official site for more details.
