Barker's Jericho Wets Next-Gen Pants
The horror maestro is bringing his... unique brand of entertainment to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. And we've got the screens to prove it.
Attention fans of the macabre: British horrormonger Clive Barker has signed on with Codemasters to work on a new PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC game called, fittingly, Clive Barker's Jericho.
On paper, things already sound good. Codemasters' press release for Jericho says it mingles "the darkest elements of Barker's horror fiction and films with an ambitious, age-spanning story". It's also, apparently, not for the squeamish and is being aimed straight at the blood-lusting mature audience.
The game deals with a haunted burg that rises from nothingness, prompting an investigation by Special Forces operatives (natch) trained in meting justice through both supersonic and supernatural means.
It may not sound completely original, but Barker says that "unlike a conventional game in which the characters are attempting to escape at the end of their ride through Hell, our protagonists have a much more difficult task. The closer they come to the end of their trek into darkness, the nearer they get to the source of that darkness: Evil Incarnate, we'll call it for now..."
It sounds interesting enough, but when will you get to play it? Not for some time, it seems. Clive Barker's Jericho isn't due until the latter half of 2007.
