Greatest Hits Play on the PSP
Now you don't have to pay console prices anymore for console ports.
Sony must be wondering where it all went to wrong for the PSP. Its handheld started off so well, but there are signs of things slowing down, and Nintendo's DS has now overtaken it in sales. Perhaps, the company seems to think, a price drop is in order.
The Greatest Hits - Platinum in Europe - range of reduced-price games has always been a winner on Sony's home consoles, and now the same idea is coming to the PSP. The first wave, comprised solely of Sony-developed games, is now on sale in the US at a budget price of $20 (around £11) each.
The current line-up includes Ape Escape: On the Loose; ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails; Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee; Twisted Metal: Head On; and Wipeout Pure.
This quintet will be joined later in the year by the first third party games - Lumines; Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition; Star Wars Battlefront II; Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix; and Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade.
There's no sign yet of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories hitting the budget line anytime soon despite the game having met all requirements (out for nine months; 250,000+ sales).
