EA Passes Current-Gen FIFA Info
Plenty of changes coming to current-gen systems in this year's instalment. First images.
The fate of the genre-dominating FIFA series on next-gen consoles is still shrouded for now, but we do have a good idea of what you can expect from current systems, thanks to an announcement today from the company.
As you'd expect, FIFA is growing even more monstrous in its proportions this year. As EA adds leagues from around the world to its roster, it's becoming harder for people to say they're not being represented. FIFA 07 will have clubs from 28 leagues in more than 20 countries.
New this year are the EA Sports Interactive Leagues, where you'll play virtual games according to the real-world fixtures from the F.A. Premier League, Bundesliga, French League and Mexican 1st Division. EA is pushing this as the major interactive element in the game, going so far as to promise weekly podcasts based on the results.
And the additions aren't just organisational. The developers at EA's Vancouver studio have several new gameplay elements this year, including smarter goalkeepers, better awareness on the pitch, and a revamped shooting system that even lets you put spin on the ball.
The FIFA 07 described above is coming to all current consoles and handhelds and also PC on 22 September. A mobile phone version will be available from operators on 29 September, and an Xbox 360 version is also being planned.
