Prince of Persia Vaults on to Wii
Ubisoft adds yet another game to its impressive line-up of games coming to the Wii.
The months running up to the Wii's release later this year have seen companies scrambling to get games ready for what is looking to be a big launch for Nintendo. Ubisoft has already thrown its bulk behind the console in the form of seven games coming around the time of the launch, and now it's clarified what's happening with Prince of Persia on Nintendo's new machine.
Ubisoft's French arm reportedly let slip last week that a Prince of Persia game was coming to the Wii, resulting in some confusion. Now the company has confirmed to IGN that the series will be coming to the Wii - but not at launch.
"I can confirm that a game based on the popular Prince of Persia franchise is one of many titles Ubisoft has in development for Nintendo's Wii," a Ubisoft spokesperson told IGN. "At this time we can not provide an official date for the game or any additional information about it."
The information Ubisoft is willing to share right now is that the game will not be ready for the launch, which implies a release early in the new year. Considering this, the likely bet is that this would be a port of a past game tweaked to work with the Wii remote. Ubisoft has declined to comment further.
