DS Browser Hitting Europe in October
Now you too can browse the web on your DS and scream with fury simultaneously. Pricing details inside.
You've used it to relive your childhood memories and to train your brain, and soon you'll be able to use the DS to browse the web. Nintendo has announced that it will release its standalone browser software in the beginning of October.
The browser, designed by desktop and bespoke browser maker Opera, takes an interesting approach to scanning the Internet. It uses both screens of the DS - the bottom shows whichever page you've navigated to, while the top screen shows a zoomed in view of a portion of the page.
The browser comes on a cartridge that slips into the regular DS game slot and there's also a memory expansion pack to speed things up when you visit heavier Web sites. This expansion pack, which goes in the Game Boy Advance slot, comes in two sizes, so that it sits flush with either the DS or the slimmer DS Lite.
Because Nintendo has been aggressive about putting up so many WiFi hotspots, there are literally thousands of places around the country where you can go online for free.
The Nintendo DS Browser will be out in Europe on 6 October for £30, or around €40. For more on the browser, check out Nintendo's site.
