Shenmue Online: China Joy Videos
Assortment of videos from China Joy.
We, along with much of the rabid Shenmue fanbase, can't quite make up our minds about Shenmue Online yet; on the one hand, some of the stuff in these new videos looks quite tasty. On the other, it seems a little bit sparse, lifeless and mixed up.
And it's not Shenmue III, but a slightly cynical MMO cash-in aimed at an audience with little or no prior investment in the brand that's being shredded up and stuck back together. Still scheduled for release only in China, Shenmue Online was shown off at the recent China Joy show, and surprisingly had some brief story unveilings that weren't expected until a full-on sequel shows up (or not).
Some of the footage is rendered, some of it is in-game, a lot of it is old footage mixed with new stuff, and well, it's kind of a mess but still worth a look if you want to see what's going on in Parallel-Universe Shenmue.
