Get an Early Start on Yakuza
Sega puts out prequel movie. Yes, it's live-action, but at least it doesn't have a terrible dub.
Sega's new PlayStation 2 action game Yakuza is a heady tale of murder and revenge set in the Japanese underworld dominated by the Japanese mafia. The game is last being prepped for release outside its home country, and Sega is letting fans get a jump on the story through prequel movies at the official Yakuza site.
The goal of the prequel is to enliven the characters that inhabit the game. The first part of the live-action movie, up now on the game's official site, goes into some of the background that brought the principal characters together.
The movie shows how lead character Kazuma meets his later-to-be nemesis Nishiki and secret love Yumi at an orphanage outside Tokyo. The game will pick up events much later on, when Kazuma is released after a ten-year prison sentence for a crime he didn't commit and Tokyo's underworld is in a tizzy over a missing ¥10 billion.
Sega is planning another three prequel instalments before the game's release on 15 September.
