Battlefield Brings Bad Company to PS3, 360
Singleplayer-focussed game coming to next-gen console next year. First screen.
EA's popular Battlefield series is best known for its massive multiplayer skirmishes, but for the next-generation debut of the series, the company is turning Battlefield on its head.
Battlefield: Bad Company is a new singleplayer-heavy game from series developer DICE in Sweden. The game swaps the rules of engagement in swarming war zones for a story involving a crooked squad out for gold and revenge.
For a synopsis of what you can expect, we turn to Karl Magnus Troedsson, the senior producer of the game.
"The heart of DICE's multiplayer games is the frenetic, unpredictable nature of the sandbox experience, where anything could happen at any moment, and that's what we're bringing to the core of Battlefield: Bad Company's singleplayer campaign," says Troedsson.
"In a world that's 90 per cent destructible, the gameplay possibilities are infinite - the battlefield is always changing, forcing players, teammates, and enemies to react accordingly. Gamers will have total freedom to adapt to and tackle challenges in creative Battlefield-style ways."
It's not all about the solo stuff, though. EA says the game will come with a "full suite" of multiplayer modes.
Battlefield: Bad Company is due on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2007.
