Guitar Hero in the Van Again This Autumn
RedOctane narrows down the release timeframe without giving it all away. The tease.
Blistered and bloodied as your hands may be from the constant thrashing to Guitar Hero, we hope you have the energy to unglove them for a second to jot down the release date for the sequel.
RedOctane, Guitar Hero II's publisher, said it was "absolutely overjoyed" on Monday to reveal that wanna-be virtuosos can expect delivery of the sequel to the popular guitar game in November - shortly after the US debut. Unfortunately, the company didn't get more specific than that.
Guitar Hero II is the first of what will probably be several sequels to last year's cult-hit music game by Frequency and Amplitude developer Harmonix in which you pound out notes on a fretboard in tune to wailing of the heavy metal variety.
Fans of the game are, of course, most interested in finding out precisely which songs they'll be playing along to, but so far, no dice.
Around a dozen songs have been confirmed, including Sweet Child O' Mine (Guns 'n' Roses), Strutter (KISS), and War Pigs (Black Sabbath), but the game makers are holding out for a while still.
