WoW Expands This Year, Then Annually
Blizzard is planning to have full expansions coming out more regularly.
It may feel as if World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first full expansion to the world dominating massively multiplayer online game, has been a lifetime in the making, but Blizzard is saying that things will come flowing more regularly afterwards.
"Our ideal scenario," said a Blizzard representative speaking to GameSpot, "would be to release new expansions every year, and that's what we're aiming for."
Ubisoft isn't stupid, though, and sometimes things get pushed back, so the company has the caveat in place that the schedule could be disrupted.
What the 6-million-and-growing fans of the series can count on is consistency.
"Our priority will always be on ensuring that our products meet our expectations and those of our players, and we won't release a product until we feel it's ready," the spokesperson told GameSpot.
But before it can shift its attention to the next expansion, Blizzard needs to get The Burning Crusade out. The game has reportedly entered testing stages, and the spokesperson told GameSpot that the game should be out before the end of the year.
