Burnout Ignites PS3, Xbox 360 in 2007
EA's hot racer is coming to next-gen consoles and, by the looks of things, only to next-gen consoles. First details.
One of the main features of next-generation games is their adherence to a one-world policy. Instead of jumping between different levels, we're given one world to explore, which helps to create a more believable game world. Burnout is the latest series to go down this path.
Burnout 5 (a placeholder title, we presume), is the latest game in the hit series and the first that's coming only for next-gen consoles - specifically the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
"Burnout 5 is a complete reinvention of the series, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," says Alex Ward of developer Criterion, explaining the new approach. "To create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from top to bottom."
The game is set in Paradise City, home to green grass and pretty girls, and, as EA explains, "every intersection is a potential crash junction and every alleyway is an opportunity to rack up moving violations."
There's precious little else we know about Burnout 5, save that it's coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime during 2007.
