Dead Rising Eats Brains, Ships Big
Capcom is up to that whole shipped-versus-sold thing again. Nevertheless, it's still looking good for the new zombie-fest.
While the UK and the rest of Europe is suffering the tail end of the annual summer game release drought, Americans are piling into new games, and one in particular. Capcom reported back on early sales of its zombie-slasher Dead Rising, and it sounds like things are going well.
Capcom said on Wednesday that it happed shipped 500,000 units of Dead Rising in the US during the last two weeks. It's not clear exactly how many of these have been sold, but we gather that it'll feature well on next figures update from NPD Group.
So what's to thank for Capcom's "success"? According to the company, it all comes down to making games for people who want to buy them, and with the reality of the Japan's indifference to the Xbox 360, that translates to creating games with an eye firmly fixed on foreign markets.
Though the game has taken a lot of flack for its antiquated save system - you only get one slot per hard drive or memory card - it has nonetheless won the hearts and brains of press and players alike.
Next up for Dead Rising is a shuffle to Europe, where the game will be released on 8 September.
