Xbox 360, PS3 too puny for Crysis
Developer CryTek says that despite the muscles of the new machines from Sony and Microsoft, neither will cut it when it comes to its new game.
More than one person has done a double-take when walking by EA's new alien-themed shooter Crysis, just to make sure the stuff showing on screen wasn't real. Apparently the graphical voodoo developer CryTek is using is so potent that not even the soon-to-be-released PlayStation 3 will be able to run it.
According to CryTek's Bernd Diemer, "next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power" to pull the game off, says a report at Team Xbox.
At least part of this is down to the DirectX 10 software interface, which will allow PCs to break new graphical ground while simultaneously devouring the contents of your bank account.
Crysis is the latest game from the talented folks behind Far Cry. It's due for release on PC sometime early next year.
