Assassin's Creed strikes at Xbox 360
It was only a matter of time until Ubisoft copped to the non-PS3 editions of its new action game set during the Third Crusade. First Xbox 360 screens.
One of the worst kept secrets in games is the multiplatform fate of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. The company has struggled since May to hold back the sea of truth, but those walls came crashing down today with the confirmation that Assassin's Creed is coming to the Xbox 360.
Previously PlayStation 3 exclusive, Assassin's Creed is an action game not wholly dissimilar in look from Prince of Persia, which is less surprising when you notice that it's also being made by the talented developers at Ubisoft's studio in Montreal.
The game hearkens back to the days of the Third Crusade in the late 12th century, when religious groups were slaughtering each other in the name of their chosen deity in a confrontation that would tear the Holy Land apart. You'll play as Altair, one of the assassins who brought their unique brand of fiery justice to both sides of the conflict.
There's already a lot of buzz for Assassin's Creed, thanks to a stellar behind-closed-doors showing of the game at E3 in May, where the game won numerous Best of Show awards.
The Xbox 360 version will ship alongside the PlayStation 3 and the recently revealed PC version during early 2007. In the meantime, you can find out more about the game at www.assassinscreed.com.
