Sega Confirms Yakuza Sequel
While we wait for the first game in the mob-themed series, Sega is readying the second entry for Japan.
We're still a week or so away from the European launch of Sega's mob-themed action game Yakuza, but that hasn't stopped the company from revealing already that there is more in the offing.
Sega launched the official Ryu ga Gotoku 2 site this week, signalling its intent to turn the already popular game into a fully-fledged series. Though the move may seem premature to Western eyes, it isn't as surprising as it initially appears, considering that Yakuza was already released in Japan last December.
In the first game, due here on 15 September, you play an innocent ex-convict who is sucked into the vicious circles of Japan's criminal underbelly, where he must face his childhood friend, now his greatest enemy.
You can catch up on some of the game's backstory at the official European site, where Sega is hosting 40 minute of live-action footage that introduces the main characters.
