Report: Wii for £150 by November
Trade paper says the new system will arrive on target and at a price that should have Nintendo fans smiling.
Europeans could use a bit of good news, what with Sony pulling out of its promise to launch the PlayStation 3 this year and all. That good news would seem to be coming from Nintendo, if a new report is right.
MCV reports that the Wii will sell for £149 in the UK, and it'll be here before 24 November. Just as notable is that Nintendo will reportedly not have any of the supply issues that have dogged Sony and Microsoft.
David Yarnton, head of Nintendo in the UK, told GamesIndustry.biz that the MCV report was "definitely not right", but he admitted that it was "not far off" either.
Nintendo is due to hold a press briefing towards the end of next week to dole out launch details for the Wii. The company has sent out invitations to journalists in Japan and the US for 14 September, with the UK meeting taking place the next day.
Supporting MCV's talk of good Wii supply is a statement from IBM this week that it has been delivering the Broadway processor at the heart of the Wii to Nintendo since July already. Nintendo also confirmed this week that it would have 6 million Wiis ready by the end of March.
