Forza 2 Backs Up Into 2007
The new racer from Microsoft will not make it to stores this year, says the team's community manager.
It's becoming something of a ritual - game makers fill the last months of the year with oodles of games and then discover that getting them out in time for the Christmas rush isn't quite as easy. The latest victim is Microsoft, which is keeping its new racing game parked for a short while longer.
Though the company has yet to make an official announcement, Che Chou, the community manager for Forza Motorsport 2, said on the official forums this week that the game would not make it to stores this year.
"The game is no longer Holiday 2006 - but we won't announce a new date until X06," Chou said. "Gotta do what you gotta do to get things right, y'know?"
And getting things done right is something Microsoft needs to do, as Forza Motorsport 2 is one of the more anticipated of its in-house games. Microsoft has also used the game as a demo of its Live Anywhere technology, which extends Xbox Live to other platforms, such as PCs and mobile phones.
If, as Chou suggests, the final launch date will be announced at X06, we'll need to wait until the end of the month, when Microsoft hosts its quasi-annual event, taking place this year in Barcelona.
