Xbox 360 Bundled With PGR3 for Xmas
In Japan, the company is packing in the latest and greatest RPG to entice newcomers, but Britons will have to do with this year-old racer.
With no price drop for its year-old console in the offing and the all-important Christmas period upon us, Microsoft has to do something to make the Xbox 360 attractive to might-be owners, so it's doing the next best thing by bundling it with new goodies.
Starting later this year, you'll be able to pick up a new Project Gotham 3 pack that includes a Premium Xbox 360, the game, and an extra wireless controller. The bundle will set you back around £300, but don't be surprised if retailers knock off another few pounds.
The big question is whether this will be enough to pull in the more reluctant out there who have yet to feel the need to upgrade. The Xbox 360 is lagging somewhat in Europe - relative to the US - but Microsoft says it is well on course to sell more than a million consoles in the UK alone before Christmas.
At least Microsoft will benefit from the absence of the PlayStation 3, which, thanks to parts shortages, isn't due in Europe until well into 2007. Nintendo, on the other hand, will bring the Wii here this December, though the console is less direct competition (other than for yuletide cash) than Sony's system.
