FIFA Stomps on the Competition
With little in the way of competition coming from gun-shy publishers, EA is left dominating the charts.
Publishers in the UK look to have given EA's latest football juggernaut a wide berth, with no big games coming out to challenge FIFA 07. Unsurprisingly, last week's chart topper has done it again, and it made as much money as the seven games below it did together - impressive stuff, even if sales were down a third over last weekend.
There's nothing new in the Top 10 of the UK sales chart, with most games from last week simply shifting around a bit. The only addition this week is Project Gotham Racing 3. The year-old racing game is getting a healthy bump thanks to its inclusion in a new Xbox 360 bundle.
In the face of such stiff competition, you could be forgiven for assuming that a simple logic game such as Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? would struggle on the charts, but a strong advertising push has helped keep the game floating near the top for yet another week.
The Top 10 games for the week ending 7 October, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
- FIFA 07 (EA)
- Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (LucasArts)
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (EA)
- Just Cause (Eidos)
- Kingdom Hearts II (Square Enix)
- Cars (THQ)
- Company Of Heroes (THQ)
- Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo)
- LMA Manager 2007 (Codemasters)
- Project Gotham Racing 3 (Microsoft)
