PS3 Oblivion Content Confirmed for PC, 360
Bethesda fesses up, admitting that the ground will be levelled for the three platforms next month.
Chalk up another one for the rumour mill. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion developer Bethesda Softworks said on Tuesday that the bonus content coming with the PlayStation 3 edition of the top-rated role-playing game would also be coming to PC and Xbox 360, confirming speculation from earlier in the month.
The new content will be in stores as a boxed expansion and available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace and through www.OblivionDownloads.com from 21 November - around the same time as the game arrives for PlayStation 3. The boxed PC edition will also come with the seven previous downloads.
The Knights of the Nine update makes the massively singleplayer RPG more massive still, adding a new faction and associated missions. It was originally unveiled as part of the expanded features of the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
Bethesda sneakily neglected to mention prices for any of the versions of the new content, though it's a fair bet that this won't be a free download - at least not on the Xbox 360.
Despite the developer's contention that the previous updates to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion have been "easily the most popular downloadable content on Xbox Live Marketplace", it hasn't always come easily. The company took a lot of flack when it sold the infamous Horse Armour pack, which charged players for equine defensive apparel.
