Fingers on Buzzers for Sport Fans
And kids too. The lowdown on Sony's latest quiz show shenanigans for PS2, inside.
Sony is releasing a pair of new titles in its popular Buzz! series for PlayStation 2, this time letting players compete in a TV-style quiz show for sports purists in one title, and especially for kids in another.
Buzz! The Sports Quiz is surely a must for sports aficionados. It offers a wealth of content, including hundreds of fixed images and video clips spread between local and world sporting stars and heroes from past and present day. Clips feature World Cup and Olympic moments as well as other sporting events across the globe.
The Buzz 'studio' has been transformed as well; an indoor sports arena now greets contestants when they leave the locker room to face the camera, lights and audience.
Featuring support for up to 8 players, there are 10 rounds to battle through, including Spin and World of Sport, Finish Line, Estimation and old Buzz favourites like Points Builder & Pass the Bomb. With questions suitable for both hardcore sports fans and a more casual contestants, the game aims to offer something for.
For the kids, meanwhile, Buzz! Junior: Jungle Party ventures deep into the jungle with a cast of cheeky monkeys, windy gorillas and baseball playing elephants - naturally.
Each monkey character has a distinctly naughty personality, and takes part in one of up to 40 wacky mini games. With an easy-to-use Buzzer, players go head-to-head against up to three friends to see who'll be crowned King of the Jungle.
Play is simpler than peeling a banana and players can get really competitive with short, medium, long or custom tournaments - but in the world of slapstick cartoon humour, sometimes the loser has the best laugh!
"This is an audience who may want to enjoy the sociability and healthy competition of the Buzz! games but may not be old enough to recognise the music and general knowledge questions in the previous titles," said Sony's Mark Hardy. "Our focus is on creating a party atmosphere with quick games, quirky humour and loads of fun."
In the UK, Buzz! The Sports Quiz is released on 10th November, and Jungle Party is out now
