Xbox 360's 'Emergence Day' Imminent
Launch day festivities planned for big hitter.
Not many would argue that the biggest game of the year as far as Xbox 360 gamers are concerned is Gears of War. Microsoft has dubbed the day of its arrival "Emergence Day" - 12th November in North America and 17th November in the UK.
As Emergence Day looms closer, Microsoft has released a 'sneak preview' of the TV and cinematic trailer on Xbox Live.
Gears of War has amassed a lot of attention since its original announcement, with Microsoft positioning it as the biggest Xbox 360 title to date, offering the kind of horrific action you only get with a chainsaw bayonet over the festive period.
The game thrusts players into humankind's epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet - and it all looks the part too, with cinematic, interactive environments presented in high-definition.
In North America, Microsoft is celebrating with 24 hours of special events, beginning midnight on 12th November. Xbox Live Gold members will have a chance to participate in online tournaments, download videos, win prizes and participate in a variety of activities, including a 24-Hour Leader board Tournament, hourly competitions and more video content to watch. It's expected that similar promotions will be arranged for the UK launch, too - announcements should be imminent.
