Xbox 360s Worth £1 Million Stolen
Some people have taken their desire for yuletide profits to the next step.
With the PlayStation 3 nowhere to be found in Europe this Christmas season, gamers out for a high-end experience will be eyeing the Xbox 360. Ne'er-do-wells in the West Midlands have demonstrated more than a passing interest in the console.
Thieves in Lichfield have hit a depot in the town, getting away with more than a million pounds worth of Xbox 360s just this week, says a report at expressandstar.com.
The first strike was the hijacking of a truck laden with £750,000 worth of the console - around 3,000 units. This was followed by the theft of a trailer container that had consoles worth another £260,000.
It's not clear if the thieves knew what they were stealing. According to the report, three men in two cars flagged down a truck driver in the first hit, who was then threatened before they made off with the booty.
Staffordshire police have asked people to be on the lookout for Xbox 360s sold under suspicious circumstances.
