Gears of War Grinds to a Halt
The Microsoft shooter starts its downward slide as Need For Speed Carbon and FIFA 07 storm to the front again.
Microsoft has been talking up Gears of War since the game successfully debuted in the US in late November. While the 1 million copies already sold worldwide is impressive, the game did not have enough momentum to see off EA's powerful multiplatform duo.
Both FIFA 07 and Need For Speed: Carbon roared past the Xbox 360-exclusive Gears of War this week, reclaiming the top spots on the UK charts. With little else in the way of new games to distract them, Britons returned to what have become the bellwether series for the Christmas season.
Look for things to get a major shake-up soon. This week sees the release of Rainbow Six: Vegas one of the more eagerly awaited Xbox 360 games this year, and then there's the big one, the Wii launch on 8 December.
For now, though, we're stuck with the same games in different positions.
The Top 10 games for the week ending 25 November, as determined by Chart Track, are below:
- FIFA 07 (EA)
- Need For Speed: Carbon (EA)
- Gears of War (Microsoft)
- The Sims: Pets (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (Konami)
- WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2007 (THQ)
- Call of Duty 3 (Activision)
- Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (LucasArts)
- Bratz: Forever Diamondz (THQ)
- Cars (THQ)
